WIW: A little modern, a little vintage, a little cowgirl

Time to break out the B44 tiered dress! Because I do feel a bit self conscious in this body con dress, I've popped my tomato red blazer over top to make it a bit more work appropriate. For footwear, it's also the debut of my thrifted sand coloured fringed booties. I thrifted these about a month ago and am excited to wear them. It's not super cold today so no tights or fishnets (booties with bare legs as per Angie's blog this morning). It's also the first wearing of the vintage handbag that my MIL bought for me from a vintage Etsy site. I thought it went perfectly with the dress and booties. That's three first wearings in one outfit!

I feel pretty darned good in this outfit and definitely up there in the happiness scale. What do you think? Does it all work together? Any tweaks required? As always, all comments/suggestions welcome.

Blazer: Gap
Dress: Anthropologie
Booties: thrifted (no label)
Handbag: vintage (early 1960's)

  • JamC replied 11 years ago

I love this! The purse is amazing.

I always love cream with red, Shannon, it really makes this outfit extra crisp;-) That dress looks simply amazing on you, your vintage handbag is a beauty, and those booties were definitely a fab find too! And I hope you don't mind my saying this: you have such gorgeous legs, they were made for booties and dresses/skirts.

You look wonderful, Shannon. I've already admired the purse but yes, it's divine with that outfit.

Transcona, such a pretty look. Love the bag- so chic. And the boots are great. The shoes and the bag tie in perfectly well and balance out the patterned bodycon dress and the bright blazer.

Yay! Dress with light booties. I still need to wear mine, maybe I will this week if it warms up. You have the best smile.

WOW, Shannon, one of your best looks! Love the cream booties, to not say anything more of a Bayleys dress, which I find stunning from first day I have seen them here on the YLF:-)...I wonder when in the end will arrive this kind of dress to my favourite shops M&S, H&M, Vögele, etc.., here in Hungary(or even in the EU), has anybody seen something simnilar?

    Beautiful combination! Breathtaking!

This looks wonderful! I love the bag. The jacket is perfect with the dress - but the dress also stands alone. And the booties are a great addition!

    Love it, Shannon!
    You look oh-so-current and fun.
That vintage bag is just wonderful.

I love that dress! The blazer picks out the red color perfectly and the booties look great with your bare legs.

I was a little concerned about those fringed booties, but you have laid all of my worries to rest. This could be one of your BEST outfits ev-ah! The booties make your ankles look so shapely, they match that amazing bag perfectly and the dress is absolutely stunning on you. You'll be lucky if anyone gets any work done in the office today at all! :)

That dress looks beautiful on you plus the blazer and clutch add so much to it. I am having a bit of a hard time with the fringe booties, the style looks a bit disconnected from the rest of the outfit, but the overall effect is fab nevertheless.

You are fearless when it comes to dressing and it pays off. Great outfit with great colors, very fashion forward.

    WOW!!

KILLER to the power of KILLER. Your best ever :)

Shannon, please post this outfit on this morning's blog post to encourage all those petite ladies who think that they can't wear booties/shooties with visible legs. This outfit will send them into orbit! I already mentioned our petite forum members who wear the look with panache - but visuals are best.

Now excuse me while I faint from all your fabness.

    *faints*

    SQUEEEEE!!!!

Angie - I am humbled by your rating and comments. Thank you so much. It is because of your teachings and assistance that I would even try this combination. It's funny how I never worried about leg shortening with booties....I wonder why that is?

Inge - of course I don't mind you commenting on my legs :)

Claire - glad I won you over on these booties! Of course you know what hubby said about them right? "sexy cowgirl" - lol!

Thank you all so much for your lovely words and encouragement. I truly enjoy getting dressed and playing in my closet.

Ooh, I LOVE that dress! And the shoes, and the blazer and the fact that you're carrying it off so perfectly in bare legs! I'm copying your look this week!

  • Jamie replied 11 years ago

You look amazing in this outfit, Shannon!

  • Carole replied 11 years ago

Wow, Shannon, just stunning. Love everything about this. You are a bootie role model!

  • calmwave replied 11 years ago

Your best yet! You'd never know you were self-conscious in that dress... you wear it with confidence and sass!

  • ElleH replied 11 years ago

Shannon you know how I feel about you in body con dresses. I haven't been on YLF long but this is one of the best outfits I have ever seen you in. You look fantastic! Ive seen you look amazing in this dress with red booties & this is even better. The light, almost flesh colored booties are more leg lengthening. Please wear more body con dresses you have such a beautiful hourglass that really shines in them.

  • Sunita replied 11 years ago

Oh, just fabulous! You are definitely inspiring me to try booties with dresses, and making me regret passing on that beautiful B44 dress....sigh!

  • Beth Ann replied 11 years ago

    Shannon:

Oh yes, true K to K2!

I love the way that, when feeling self-conscious in the dress, you decided to tone things down by adding......wait for it......... flaming RED and FRINGE!

Now, yes, it's absolutely office appropriate, and very confident, too!

  • Astrid replied 11 years ago

Oh WOW! Shannon, you look amazing! I love absolutely everything about this.

  • RunningSue replied 11 years ago

Thanks for giving another petite gal some ideas on how to successfully pull off this trend. You look FAB!

  • annagybe replied 11 years ago

Having major boot lust. Great outfit.

  • catgirl replied 11 years ago

So great - a little smidge of everything in there, Shannon-style. Glad to see the B44 dress out again!

  • san replied 11 years ago

    So flattering. Wow!

  • Ariadne replied 11 years ago

    *jaw drops*

I love it! This is my favorite outfit of yours EVER. Wear it as much as you can! YLF!

  • Transcona Shannon replied 11 years ago

Thank you all so much. I'm feeling quite overwhelmed by all your lovely comments.

Anna - I'm wowed that you, someone I consider to be incredibly stylish, would have boot lust for my $8 thrift find!

  • rae replied 11 years ago

YESSS!! Although you don't need to feel self-conscious in that dress, I do agree that it is more work-friendly with the blazer. I felt best wearing my B44s with a jacket, too. You've done wonderful things with the colors and booties here!

  • Firecracker (Sharan) replied 11 years ago

Wow! Ah-may-zing! I think the colors are adding to the fabness of the whole ensembles on you, too--you look gorgeous. I really like that blazer with the dress--perfect work combo. Thanks for posting on the blog, too.

  • Jyoti replied 11 years ago

This is TO DIE FOR. I was just lurking around but had to come out of lurkdom to say that. xD

  • Deborah replied 11 years ago

This does look fantabulous! The colors of the dress with the cream is such a stylish combo. I cannot believe you thrifted such a great pair of booties. The way the sections of this dress work, creates a very flattering a d figure flattering look. You have nothing to worry about and the red jacket is the perfect topper. Just lovely.
