The power of clothes

On this glorious Spring day, I'm putting away my heavy winter clothes (waving to fellow puffer-putting-away Fabber Sveta). There's something so cathartic in cleaning a closet isn't there?

As I pulled out my spring/summer items from last year I was thrilled to see that they all still fit! But what I noticed more than anything is that all of my EF pieces (the slim cropped black pants, the black/white ombré sleeveless silk top, the silver linen blend tee, and the two drape front dresses) and the blush drapey BCBG top that was an Angie pick still fit my style aesthetic, even with the slight shift I'm experiencing. And I think I love them even more now than when I bought them. I FELT so good in these items then and now. Such a wonderful feeling! Obviously my new motto of "buy less, buy better" is going to serve me well.

I've also gone through my spring and summer shoe and sandal capsule and I'm in better shape than I thought.

A couple of new pieces for the warm season and the addition of my citron handbag and my wardrobe will feel completely refreshed. And the result of this cleaning and trying on morning? One fantastic mood!

Dusty Bottom even felt like pitching in :)

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

Looks like Dusty Bottom has a thing for handbags.
Glad to hear you're at such a good place going in to spring and summer, Shannon! Thanks for the inspiration.

    Dusty Bottom is adorable!

Such a happy place to be in Shannon, very glad for you.  I am also cleaning my closet today, albeit the day is rainy and dark.  I expect it will generate a fury of posts in the next few weeks. Like you, I will only buy few pieces this spring/summer.

yeh, it is a good feeling to get closet cleaned, and for you in cold climates a real boost to get out spring.  Always great to find things still fit, but so much better to find them still "in" and I too am finding I like some things even better than I did last year.. There seems to be such variety this year that even things purchased a year or two or even three are appearing fresh this year!

I'm in the process of doing the same thing, but alas, do not have any feline friends to keep me company. Glad that you are feeling very positive and rejuvenated about your wardrobe.

Yay! Putting away winter clothing in March is so liberating!!!
Great news about the state of your summer wardrobe and especially with the shoes. Love when it happens!
I am afraid it will be a different matter for me as most of my summer bottoms were too big last fall and I did not replenish any of them then. We will see if I am as lucky as you are!

I'm doing the same thing here today!  My cats were of no help at all - sleeping away in the sun, lazy things :)  Glad to hear that you are in a good mood as a result of your careful buying from last season.  I know all too well how it can go either way with getting clothes out that have been put away for 6 months.  I'm only partway through and have no comment so far  - haha. No trying on to spoil such a lovely day here.

You and your cat have the best attitudes- taking advantage of the sunny moments of life!
Thanks for sharing your positivity :) :)

Yay for buying fewer & better :) I've just sorted my autumn/winter wardrobe & can't wait to wear it. DB is gorgeous.

Love your kitty pic. My kitties were underfoot as I was closet cleaning today. I'm exhausted. So cleansing, so ready for the transition of season, so ready to explore spring looks. And yes, really great for the mood. Congrats on your efforts.

What a great feeling! I've been hoping to pull out my autumn winter clothes but we still have hot days ahead so I might wait a few weeks. Enjoy!

You're right Dusty B - black and white does look great with those colors :-)!

I'm so happy for you. This post was timely and helpful as I am trying to resist spending so that I can treat myself to some better quality things that I hope will go on sale and still be available in my size after Easter. I needed your inspiration to stay strong.
Dusty Bottom is a critic. He seems to prefer your coral bag and likes to play in the closet too.

Doesnt it feel awesome to know our closet loves us back? :-) Dusty Bottom sure loves the handbags too! And hoorah for spring!

Dusty is adorable! What a wonderful feeling to be able to put away that puffer and break out the spring clothes. I hope to do that myself shortly. Way to go! :)

What a great feeling, Shannon! Dusty has great taste in handbags:)

SMOOCHES from afar. Your upbeat spirit travels all the way across the world and don't I love you for it? Dusty Bottom is so cute, too. He is a bag boy, I guess?

What a great feeling, and it will hopefully guide you in continuing to make fabulous choices for spring.

That is a great feeling, to have a compact but totally functional wardrobe even in the middle of the footwear challenges I saw in some of your other threads.  Yay!
Your kitty is so gorgeous.  What a glam place to rest your head.  :)
