Talk to me Equipment blouse owners

I'm almost wishing The Bay wasn't upping their game with higher end brands. There are so many gorgeous items on their website these days.

This silk Equipment blouse is absolutely gorgeous IMHO - I adore plaid and this blouse is close to Blackwatch, which is my favorite plaid of all time. I really like how the body of the blouse is opaque but the sleeves sheer.

How do Equipment blouses fit? Too long for a petite gal? Won't work over my apple-ness? No, I'm not buying now. Not in the budget. But if there were a hint of potential it might be something I would consider saving for. Just "kicking tires" here...

ACK!! Shannon you delicious devil, you. How dare you draw my attention to that gorgeous blouse? Hits every one of my own sweet spots.

Equipment shirts vary a bit in cut -- so you would probably have to try it on to be sure.

It might be on the long side untucked. My Equipment shirt is not too long to wear untucked but it does rather cut me in half with flats if I wear dark bottoms. (Example below). So I tend to wear it tucked or semi-tucked.

I think its ability to cope with the apple will depend on size. Mine is loose in the body on me.

Thanks to you I have just added a $300 top to my wishlist...gah!!

I have been drooling over that blouse ever since I saw it on Natalie yesterday!  I like a longer blouse because it stays tucked, and I don't think it's too long to wear untucked even on short me.  I think it would be great on you!

    What a great blouse!
I love Equipment blouses, and have several. They are excellent quality classics that really don't go out of style, IMO.
In my experience the Signature style is pretty long and I think it might be longer than you want to wear untucked. My favorite style of Equipment blouses is the Brett, which is usually a little shorter and more fitted. Unfortunately it's not the style that usually comes in the interesting prints.

But I just looked on the ShopBop site and they list the length of that plaid blouse as 27", which is the same as the Brett. One way to find out... just enabling! :-)

Well, I'm tall and the length of sleeves and overall length is good for me....the slim signature is too slim for my appleness, the signature is good...I haven't tried the Brett.  They are good, but I honestly don't see that much difference between them and J Crew in quality...could just be me.

i have 2 equipment blouses, both of which i wear as tunics. one is really long, and IMO would not work tucked as it would bunch way to much . the other is shorter and could work tucked, but would still need to be "bloused up" so that it didn't bunch,  and that's a little more fussying than i want. that being said, they bueatiful blouses, and work really well for work and play.

I have one signature equipment blouse, too. It is long, and it is not fitted. Basically, I wish I'd bought a size smaller.

I agree that they vary in size from one style to the next -- I'm a S in one, a M in another. Lovely fabrics, colors and prints! I'm not disappointed with mine and consider them classics I'll keep for years. Love the plaid. :-)

Hmmmmm....sounds like it could be too long on short me. Maybe that's a good thing - at least for my wallet :)

Do Equipment blouses do well with hand washing and ironing, or do they need dry cleaning?

  • shedev replied 9 years ago

Lovely blouse, Shannon. Now I'm kinda wondering about the sleeve length.

I love my equipment blouses. I throw them in the wash on delicate and dry them in the dryer on cool. They have a great weight to their silk and I think that helps with the way they hang. I wear mine untucked. I also prefer the styles without the pocket flaps. Here is a link to their site. Their customer service may be able to give you more detailed info.

I love my EQ blouses. They are very delicate and well made. I love my EQ jumpers even more actually.

    Gorgeous blouse, Shannon. xo

I have several Equipment silk shirts although I am wearing them much less with my new less dressy job. The one here is gorgeous but it has sheer sleeves so bear that in mind. The slim signature fits TTS, the Signature a bit large. Check on eBay where there are tons for half price or less.

My heavy-weight Equipment silk stands up very well to washing. I wouldn't trust a sheer fabric like that one in the wash, though - I've had thin silk chiffon sort of shrink in the wash. (The fibers don't shrink, but the weave gets tighter.)

I love them, great fabric and interesting patterns and color. I like length and ease and slouch. But for me, hit or miss. Some styles gape at the buttons even sized up -- and I'm not at all busty. Something about the way the armhole is set.

I have 4 EQ blouses and love them.  In my experience they run a little on the large side and are long.  I got all 3 of mine (New With Tags) off of EBay for a fraction of the price - so check them out there before you lay down the cash at The Bay!

Thank you all for your feedback. I have the feeling the fit won't work for me so I will have to enjoy the beautiful blouses on all of you :)
