New black leather handbag? (ETA I bought it - see at bottom)

I have slowly but surely been working on upgrading my handbag collection. I don't mean getting more just for the sake of getting more, but swapping out my cheaper non leather bags for good quality handbags (mostly from Danier Leather) that work better for me. I consider my handbags a big part of my style and a worthwhile purchase, within financial reason of course.

I thrifted two years ago a lovely lamb leather Christopher Kon slouchy handbag with gold hardware but am falling out of love with its slouchy and casual style. I'm definitely a more structured handbag kind of gal.

I do have my black with white trim leather handbag but think I need to replace my slouchy bag with a simple, all black, leather handbag. This would give me leather bags in black, light cream, cobalt/cream/black, two-tone vintage inspired cognac, snakeskin and vintage grey patent. I also have a red quilted handbag and kelly green handbag.

Do any of these simple styles from Danier say "Shannon" to you? And does my swapping of the hobo bag for a more structured black bag make sense?

The idea makes perfect sense I am drawn to #2 but #3 might be better for you. It is hard to tell in these pictures!

I dislike hobo bags as I can't find stuff in them, and I prefer clean structured lines. I am a huge fan of Kate Spade for that reason, although I love my Brahmin bag!

So, yes, I can see this as a reasonable upgrade. And yes, your handbags are fabulous and part of your signature style.

Of the ones pictured, I like #4 best.

Shevia - I think you are very intuitive because the round shape of #2 is the one I'm drawn to as well.

    I like #2 best, followed by #1.

I think that it makes perfect sense, Shannon. Of these, my favorite is #2. Part of that is my strong preference for silver tone hardware on black bags. But I like the shape too. It's a bit different. I think #3 would be my next choice.

    What Tanya said :)

My favorites are #1 and #2, as well.

    2 all the way!

I like #2 best, then #3. I love the dome of #2. It reminds me of the vintage Dooney & Bourkes.

The last one is my fave (#4), because it appears to have loops on the side for a long strap. I'm a sucker for a long strap when out and about with my bags.
#2 is a very close second, #3 I don't like the hardware, it looks doesn't go with your polished look, I don't think.

I've seen them all in person. I like #2 quite a lot. But there is something in person about all of them that isn't quite right, to my eye. I can't really explain it. There's a bit of an "old lady" vibe to a few of them IRL. Have you seen them in the store yet?

The only one I was drawn to was this one. And yes, I get you on preferring the structured on to hobo style.

  • replied 10 years ago

    I like #2

I like #2 followed by 1.  I still love your old bag.  Keep me in mind if you're thinking of passing it on!

  • Glory replied 10 years ago

I still love a hobo style but I am a WAHM. I think for your lifestyle a more structured black bag completely makes sense. Which one- there lies the rub! It is a tough choice. I like 1 and 4 but haven't seen them in person. I do not dare walk into Danier leather. Last time I did that I bought a white leather jacket (Yikes). Have you checked these ones out yet?

    #1, #1, #1.

    #1.

I like #1 best personally. But #2 and #3 might read more Shannon to me.

  • bella replied 10 years ago

I like #4 for myself, but #3 might be more you.

  • Debra replied 10 years ago

Hmmmmm. Tricky, as I am drawn to a soft looking bag or a cross body bag
I really like #1 but photos are hard. I always " try bags on ".

  • Beth Ann replied 10 years ago

#1 or #2 are my faves!

  • lyn* replied 10 years ago

    #2 is very Shannon! :3

  • Transcona Shannon replied 10 years ago

Well I went to Danier and ended up buying #2. Absolutely fell in love with it. It's kind of like a hybrid between soft and structured which I found very appealing.

Suz - I promise I won't be "old lady" with it - lol!

Angie - I also saw and really liked #1 but it just didn't sing to me the way the other one did.

And I'm glad I bought it now. It was on sale for one thing and when I got home and took my slouchy bag off the hook to make room, I noticed two holes starting on the bottom of the bag. Time for it to retire.

    Thanks for the feedback all.
