My hometown version of NAS

I went into Danier Leather Saturday afternoon and bought two new pieces for my fall wardrobe and will be picking up the third one next payday. These all fit with my current autumn/winter wardrobe and will also play nicely with my new EF pieces I recently purchased for autumn.

Based on what I see in my closet for the cooler weather, I will be wearing a lot of black and simple-with-a-twist pieces. There will be a hint of edge and a hint of arty. I couldn't be more pleased :)

Pic #1 - a mixed media leather and stretch fabric open blazer. A great length that will work with both trousers and dresses/skirts. Love the feather light weight of this which will work brilliantly for an indoor topper.

Pic #2 - a fabulous thicker fabric pull-over-your-head dress with front pockets. I don't normally go in for items with embellishment but fell hard for this dress. Because I'm not built like the gorgeous model you see here, the dress fits me quite differently - almost sack like but with structure if that makes sense. I need to get about 1.5 inches hemmed off the bottom but once done, this will work brilliantly with bare legs, with tights and with leggings/pants underneath. Love the ease of just popping on one piece and out the door. Plus this can either be dressed down with tights and boots for work and then dressed up with a cuff, sheer black hose and pumps for an evening out. Hubby said I look amazing in this dress :)

Pic #3 - I've been looking for substantial ponte weight leggings with something special and these are them. The weight is perfect and the fit exactly what I was looking for - not calf sucking and a bit of ease. After all, if I want to wear tights, I'll wear tights! The strip of lamb leather down the side of the legs is quite slimming and elongating. These will work fab under tunics (including my two new EF items).

Onward...

I so regret not buying something at Danier when I was in Toronto last year.  Sometime I'll make it up there again, and save up for the trip!  These pieces look brilliant.

  • Banoffi replied 8 years ago

Great finds! I especially like the dress.  I've never heard of Danier before - thanks for the introduction.   :)

  • Transcona Shannon replied 8 years ago

LOL Elizabeth! With our Danier and EF pieces, pretty soon we're going to have the exact same closet :)

Ahhhh....thanks for the Danier love ladies...not that I needed any validation :)

All three look great!  I haven't been in yet to see what's happening for fall. And to save myself from buying yet more leather I don't need - haha.  Want to see that dress on you!!

Shannon - such fab pieces. Particularly crushing on the shift angry leggings. Wow! I know you will look amazing and uber elegant in them!!

Oooh, may I ask how the Winona jacket fits? I actually have it waiting for me at the Vancouver store--I'm flying in for a quick trip this weekend--in size XXXS (equivalent to 0-2), which the SA recommended, and I'm worried that it will be too small. I normally wear a US 2 in jackets for shoulder ease and I have a small bust. But my other leather jacket was a Bernardo SP... I know Danier runs big, wondering if you have any thoughts on how the Winona fits? And did you have to hem the sleeves?

  • Transcona Shannon replied 8 years ago

KL - I think you'll be ok with the xxxs in the jacket. I normally wear a large or generous medium in Danier and I got the Winona in small and it's perfect. You're going to love it! I haven't hemmed the sleeves as I will just turn them under. But they are too long otherwise.

  • Keix replied 8 years ago

Thank you Shannon! I'm really excited for Vancouver, particularly Danier after hearing about it so much on the forum :)

  • Deborah replied 8 years ago

Nice work.  Maybe we non Americans should establish our own version of NAS :)

Shannon, these are all such fab pieces.  Can so see you wearing them (actually can see me wearing them lol).  The dress is gorgeous and I think it is a very subtle nods to your appreciation of vintage.  The dress is thoroughly modern but the trim has vintage appeal.

    Great pieces Shannon.

  • dakotacheryl replied 8 years ago

You will be looking so wonderful in these pieces!!  Great choices here.

  • lyn67 replied 8 years ago

Oh, I want them all!!! The Winona, Heidi & Lisha are all beautifull! OMG, juicing:-)

  • Joyce B replied 8 years ago

You got some fabulous items, I cannot wait to see you wearing them!
Danier has a very nice sale these days, I did some damage there, too!
I also got the Winona but in the sage color, we will be Winona twins!

  • Keix replied 8 years ago

Shannon--just wanted to update you that I'm keeping the Winona in XXXS dove :) I adore the color and style. The sleeves are very slim and a bit long, down to my thumb joint which causes some wrinkling, so I'll probably try to get them shortened. The exchange rate right now is in my favor, as an American shopping in Canada.

  • celia replied 8 years ago

I tried the Winona but they also had the Sam and because this was more of a work/ fancy item for me I ended up getting the Sam. But it was a hard choice.

Triplets. Elizabeth, triplets - I got the same jacket in grey! :-)
Wonderful pieces, Shannon! I am envious that you need to HEM this dress - and I am hopelessly sized out of it length wise.
Hmmm, maybe I also need mixed media leggings?

  • Glory replied 8 years ago

I love your title! Great choices and I think you will get loads of wear out of all of them. I am considering checking out the leggings. I have a ponte pair currently but they are very saggy by the end of the day!

  • Sveta replied 8 years ago

KL, I wear US size 10 or M and had to get S in this jacket as M was too big. Actually XS fitted too but the sleeves were tight.
With US size 2 go for the smallest size available!
