Kamilakulture Dress Love & Budget

My fall/winter shopping needs listed included: black booties (done - keeping the Ara boots); classic trench (off the list - have changed my mind); white blouse (have ordered the Zara one Inge suggested - fingers crossed); and work trousers. I have one pair of trousers for work come winter. I have added two items that were not on the list - the Nine West "magic dress" via Pil and the YLF Exchange and the blue floral VC tube skirt via eBay.

However browsing around on Amazon at the Kamilakulture dresses following Angie's blog post yesterday, I have fallen HARD for this dresshttp://www.amazon.com/KAMALIKU....._8?ie=UTF8 . Now I obviously don't know if it would work on my short torso or shoulders.

In order to stick with my budget and shopping plan, my question to you is...could I replace one of the pairs of trousers that I would be shopping for with this dress instead? Does that make wardrobe sense? Or should I stick with the original trouser plan?

The dress is very pretty! My question is do you think you'll get the same wear out of it as you would a pair of trousers?

Would you be warm enough in this in winter?  It's very pretty, but I'm not sure it's a "dead of winter" dress.

Also, how many pairs of trousers were you aiming for?

First a bit of clarification - I do wear dresses with blazers and tights, as well as pencil skirts, blazers and tights in the dead of winter here. I basically go from my house to garage to indoor parking.

How many pairs of trousers? I was thinking two for sure, possibly three. I would like one pair of black slimmer fitting ones and one pair of grey pinstripe.

But I just realized that this Kamilakulture dress may be too similar to my Maggy London wrap dress (see below).

I was just going to post Shannon, that I thought it was very similar to your ML dress in style. I can see why you love it though!

Ah, OK.  Lucky you, not having to walk in the snow!

I think you are right, and it does look quite similar to your existing dress.  I'd stick with the trousers, since you seem to have a shortage there, and you have plenty of lovely dresses.

Done! And money saved for the "right" things. Thanks for steady hand ladies :)

Good girl! No wonder you liked it, I do that all the time, try to buy things similar to ones I already have and love. Trousers, ho!

I would buy a dress over trousers any day, but I think you're right to hold off on that particular dress. The ML looks fantastic on you. That ML dress is exactly the reason I have been able to resist copying Angie's KK dress, the black one with the white circles. It's almost the same, and the V neck and draping is better for apples--the KK looks like it would cling to my apple tummy. I am trying to be cognizant of body type and style and think first before I jump into copying something that looks great on someone else. Though it's so tempting!

The Kamalikulture dresses are so enticing, but for me personally, one pair of winter trousers would not be enough and the dress is very like the one you have...

Love the dress, but I notice on the KK site that the model's hem isn't hanging well.  This indicates either poor construction or a fabric too flimsy for the application.  This would be, not a red light, but a yellow light for me.  The reviews did mention that the waist was "high," with would be good for a petite.

I like the sound of focusing on trousers.  1 pair is definitely not going to cut it.  I'm on the search, too, but I'm not sure what I'm even looking for.  I completely burned out on black trousers (a decade of wearing them like a uniform) and I crave "interesting" pants.

    Hit "reply" too quickly.

Let's make a pact to find trousers that match the fabness of our skirts and dressing --- in fabrication and silhouette, at least.

I went through pretty much all the reviews on Amazon for KK, and it looks like some of the fabrics aren't so nice, and there were several comments about poorly finished seams also.

Beth Ann - you've got yourself a deal!

Thanks everyone for keeping me on the right path - much appreciated :)

Your current dress is the fabbest thing ever.  I think the new dress would be pretty darn close to it.
