I'm crazy in love with everything about this outfit. Now the fact that all pieces are EF don't hurt any. Substituting the bare legs with tights for warmth, could I pull off this outfit with my body shape?

Yes! Of course! We already know you can rock a tube skirt so why would you think this wouldn't work?

I think it looks like it's made for you, Shannon!

Absolutely - this is right up your style ally.

I don't see why not. Nice outfit!

I think so for sure! The key is to get the right amount of boxiness in the top over tubeskirt to look relaxed, and be short enough to hit at the right place on the skirt, for petite. So it depends on whether you will rely on these exact pieces, that might or might do that, or if you'll need to copycat using other pieces.

I don't see why not! The only issue to me is how lightweight the sweater is for our weather, and if you are comforable wearing a cami under a semi-sheer layer. I always feel awkardly visible. But you have worn similar silhouettes!

I agree that it isn't a stretch in the least but that your arms may freeze without another layer and that layer would mean you don't get that look.

I'm sure it would look great. Is that mesh sweater made of metallic yarn? I've been looking for something like that ever since I saw a very chic parent at my daughter's school in one at the beginning of the month. I was informed that I have a "mom crush."

Absolutely! You don't have super wide shoulders and you wear pencil skirts with the best, so I would think this would be brilliant on you!

Haven't you already pulled off this silhouette????
-
ironkurtin replied 9 years ago
I think you could, sure.

For sure! What was it about this look that concerns you? You've been rocking this silhouette for quite some time. ;)

Totally. And, what Claire said.
I might be right in line after you to see if I can nab those pieces! Sheesh, those are cool.
I do think Dianthus has a point that for winter it is not going to work as is. But that still leaves early autumn and spring. :)

can you still work tights under a knit pencil? (assuming that's a knit) - otherwise, I think this is a fantastic look - would love to wear something like that myself!!

I don't know - for some reason this outfit looks almost too young for me? I do wear tube and pencil skirts often. Maybe it's the combination of the open knit with the tube skirt that feels a bit more exposed...
I do appreciate the votes of confidence :)

catgirl replied 9 years ago
Exposed - what I said! But not because too young, because it's our climate. I think in a beachy setting this would be perfection. Maybe you can find a similar top that isn't as sheer.

Transcona Shannon replied 9 years ago
But then would the outfit have the same appeal with a different top? Hmmmm...
-
catgirl replied 9 years ago
Sure - I think it's the sheen that gives the appeal. You could do an airy scarf.

Food for thought Una - thanks :)

Yeah....well, it might not be completely work appropriate like this, but would be superb for an out-for-the-evening (or even lunch) look with hubby or girlfriends.
You could have a silky blouse cut a similar way that would give the same sheen and silhouette and (might) be marginally warmer.
But seriously -- this is for our late spring or early fall, as is. It would have been a PERFECT outfit for me to wear the our WritersFest this past weekend. Temps were unseasonably warm outdoors but AC inside.

Fabulous look for day or night, work or play. Mixing up the footwear will give it a different vibe. You could layer with a knee length coat if the weather is cool. Useful separates too. I like it a lot!

About
I started playing dress up when I was 4 years old and haven't stopped since! My income doesn't match my tastes so it's all about figuring out how to thrift my way to a fashionable life while tossing in a few delectable items.
