WIW: Black, white & citron

We had some glorious Spring weather over the weekend and much more to come this week. Time to start lightening up the outfits!

Today's outfit started with this black/white graphic print dress and semi-opaque tights (need to go and get some nude micro fishnets). On top of the dress, I added my white leather jacket and scrunched the sleeves to show a bit of skin.

Because there is still some snow on the ground, I chose my black patent booties for footwear and then added a pop of Spring colour with my citron handbag.

Silver wedding band, silver bracelet and black/white specs finish off the outfit.

Does this outfit look like a nod to Spring? Does it all work together and proportions ok? As always, all comments/suggestions welcome.

WIW: Faux Spring

I loved Angie's recent blog post about red shoes for Spring but since I have neither Spring nor red shoes (yet!), I had to improvise.

My outfit started with my black pencil skirt and simple black sleeveless knit top. To add elements that hint at Spring, I chose semi-opaque tights rather than opaque tights and topped my outfit with my bronze open weave hi-lo drapey cardigan. The open weave of the cardigan shows my arms and gives the dark colour palette outfit a bit of "lightness" for Spring.

I don't have red shoes but I do have red booties, so popped those on and then chose my red/animal print clutch, red specs and red lipstick to punch the outfit up a bit more.

Thoughts? As always, all comments/suggestions welcome.

Good alteration or leave them be?

I have the Eileen Fisher faux wrap pants (pic #1) and love the soft
jersey fabric and the fun wrap front. But I don't wear them very often
and part of my hesitation comes from the length for some reason. It's almost like I don't consider them "cool" (for lack of a better word).

In looking in Angie's Finds today I see these fabulous Topshop wrap front jogger pants and am wondering about altering the EF pants in the leg - I could either add a wide elastic band like the Topshop pants (or are they then too similar to my J Brand Aviator trousers? - pic #2) or I could crop them and have the ankle tapered and make them ankle length to show off booties/shoes or even knickerbocker length?

Or should I just leave them the heck alone???

WIW: Animal Print, White & Citron

I decided today to lighten things up a little as a nod to Spring - should it ever arrive!

Today's outfit started with my white BF jeans, full length, over top of my beige cowboy-esque boots. Paired with my jeans, I went with my black/white animal print tunic length pullover, again full length and no semi tuck. I like how simple the silhouette is without the semi tuck.

I grabbed my citron bag for a pop of colour - I think I've found a new favourite combination: animal print and citron. I finished off the outfit with my ebony/silver watch, red specs and red lipstick.

Thoughts ladies? Does the pullover work untucked with the white jeans? As always, all comments/suggestions welcome.

(Check out how weird my lighting went in that first pic compared with the second…)
