Orange, taupe & shades of white

Thanks to Angie and YLF, I'm really enjoying mixing shades of white, bone and cream this season. Funny how something that used to be considered a bit of a fashion faux pas is now not only acceptable, but stylish.

Today's outfit started with my white sized up skinnies rolled as BF's to which I added my bright orange slouchy light weight knit sweater. I chose my snakeskin belt in shades of taupe to add some visual interest with pattern - wasn't feeling the white belt this morning for some reason. Then to further pick up the taupe in the belt, I chose my taupe peep toe laceless oxfords for footwear. For my handbag, I went with my cream satchel. Jewelry is my gold oversized watch and gold wedding ring.

What do you think? Does the snakeskin belt work here? Are the proportions ok? As always, all comments/suggestions welcome.

P.S. I'm taking some things to a consignment shop today for the first time. I tried on my green Poetic Licence pumps and cobalt patent Kate Spade pumps last night and my knee and bunion will just NOT accommodate those pretty shoes anymore. So sad :( I also have a BCBGMaxAzria wrap dress I've never worn (still has the price tags on it) so it's going too, as well as a few other good items. I'm hoping to make enough to buy the Chelsea boots I was eyeing which would round out my booties wardrobe assuming the Ara ones on order fit as my dressy version.

WIW: Taking the Tube to Work

The VC tube skirt that is...

I'm in love with the Vince Camuto tube skirt and because my office is not corporate dress but more business casual, this type of skirt is fine in the workplace as long as I don't wear it with a tank and no jacket and flats like I would for casual wear.

So I started the outfit with my black and white thin striped tube skirt and added my black tiered tank, topped with my white blazer. For footwear I chose my bone/silver sandals and am using my cobalt/cream/black quilted handbag for a bit of colour and texture. Jewelry is a grey/silver enamel bangle and my silver wedding band.

I'm watching The Bay website for when they mark down the VC tube skirt in black and white polka dots. I got this one for $29 and when the polka dot one goes down in price, I'm pouncing. I can wear these from early right to mid fall with boots and before tights are needed.

What do you think? does the blazer and footwear choices dress up the tube skirt enough for work? As always, all comments/suggestions welcome.

K/R: Are these my black booties? (ETA decision made @ bottom)

Went shopping with my MIL today and had in the back of my mind that should I come across the right black booties to replace my beyond-repair Blowfish black booties, I would bite.

We have a new Michael Kors store in one of our local malls (very dangerous...) and I saw the SA putting these in the window for their new fall display. They just arrived today and I was the first customer to try them on (do I get a discount for being first???).

These are incredibly comfortable, high quality boots. They are smooth black leather in the front and then snakeskin embossed black leather in the back. I absolutely LOVE the gold zipper on the outside. IMHO the boots are the perfect mix of refined and a bit rugged. I have no doubt they will work with pants so wanted to show them to you with a skirt since I wear skirts and dresses more than pants. I don't want a lot of bling or detail to take away from the sleekness of the boot so in that respect, these are perfect. Even though the heel is 2.5 inches, the footbed is so comfortable and the angle of the foot subtle enough that having walked around in the house with them on for almost an hour has not bothered my knee at all. My only hesitation is the height of the shaft - my Blowfish booties that I'm replacing are more like shooties, in that they only came to my ankle bone. Do I need to replace with an exact like style?

I am heavily leaning towards keeping these but want to make sure they look good to your eye and that they work with my style. So keep or return? (Gain thinks I should buy them based on the bag!)

I'm also showing you the taupe suede Toms booties that hubby suggested I buy. Aren't they fab? (I know they don't go with the outfit but wanted to show you the booties).

WIW: White, yellow & taupe

TGIF!!!

It's a long weekend for Canadians as Monday is a holiday - aren't the Fridays before a long weekend delicious? You know you have three whole days to relax and be with friends and family. I love that :)

Today's outfit started with my white sized up skinnies, rolled as BF's. I've paired the jeans with my yellow and oatmeal striped light knit sweater and then added a recently thrifted taupe leather belt with gunmetal buckle and gunmetal and crystal studs. For footwear I've popped on my taupe pointy toe kitten heels and I'm using my snakeskin handbag which also has shades of taupe in it. Jewelry is a silver ring and my white watch.

Does white, yellow and taupe work together? I would have normally worn white footwear and white belt but wanted to change up those elements to something less expected. As always, all comments/suggestions welcome.

Sweater: Gap
Jeans: Jessica Simpson
Shoes: Cole Haan
Handbag: Elliott Lucca
Belt and watch: thrifted

BTW after today I will be off the forum for a week and will see you when I'm back :)

WIW: De-Bomshelling with a tee

Good morning lovely ladies :)

Today's outfit started with my cobalt pencil skirt, to which I added my voluminous silk-blend tee with a white background and shades of black, green, blue and turquoise. I love that the tee doesn't have the exact shade of the skirt in it.

For footwear I went with my bone/silver sandals and then added my white clutch for my handbag. Jewelry is my silver wedding ring and chrome/white bangle watch.

I feel comfy, cool, stylish and appropriate for my day. Don't you love when an outfit can do all that?!

What do you think? does it all work together? As always, all comments/suggestions welcome.
