WIW: A summer dress in the snow

I guess with the fresh dump of snow we received yesterday, I will have to wear my flowers since I won't be seeing any real ones for quite some time.

I started out today's outfit with a summer frock - love the bright, bold floral pattern of this dress and the fact that the background is black, not white. I've topped this sleeveless dress with my black leather blazer and added black micro fishnets for a bit of leg warmth. For footwear, I've popped on my chunky Doc Martens Marcie boots. I love the juxtaposition of a girly dress with less refined footwear. For my handbag, I've added another pop of colour with my green handbag. I didn't put on my lipstick for these pics (my apologies!) but I will be wearing a pink shade today to go with the pink in the dress.

What do you think? does it all work together? As always, all comments/suggestions welcome.

WIW: Casual Coffee

Heading out to to pick up some Tim Horton's coffee for me and the gang - thought I'd show you a casual look.

This is the debut of my new grey with lime green heels/soles leather oxfords. I've been waiting for it to be dry enough. They are soooooooo comfortable. I'm wearing my faded grey slouchy skinny jeans with a thrifted Gap cobalt blue oversized tee. I'm semi tucked to rein in some of that volume and added a simple black leather belt.

Popped on my sunnies and off I go...what do you think? Does it work? As always, all comments/suggestions welcome.

WIW: Black Leather & White Jeans

It's no secret I like high contrast outfits - well it doesn't get any higher contrast than black and white!

I've paired my white jeans with my black cowl neck short sleeved tee and topped it with my leather blazer. I've added my patent three-tone oxfords for footwear and my cream handbag (which I can't seem to get enough of). Jewelry is just my silver wedding band.

This is a very simple outfit but I feel really good in it. I think it comes down to the fit of each item and the fabrication. Everything FEELS good. Happiness factor is high!

What do you think? As always, all comments/suggestions welcome.

WIW: B44 and a bit of fringe

Good morning lovelies! It is going to be a much warmer day today - whoo hoo! So a good day to wear another dress and this time with nude hose.

I pulled out the B44 dress, which I haven't worn in a while. I might be wearing this one a bit more often now that my fitness plan is working - I feel a little less self conscious in it. But to make it work appropriate, I've popped on a navy blazer over top for debombshelling purposes. For fun and also to make my footwear seem a little more spring-like, I've added my sand coloured suede booties with fringe. I've also added my white handbag to keep the accessories light, to pull out the white stripe in the dress, and to bookend the booties in terms of lightness. A swipe of red lipstick and off we go for another day...

What do you think? does it all work together? As always, all comments/suggestions welcome.

WIW: Trying to Stay Warm in Spring

Hello....Mother Nature??? You know it's Spring, right?

Today I woke up to a temperature of -32 C (with windchill). That's just NOT RIGHT in April! So today's outfit revolves around dressing for warmth. I started with my black sheath dress and added my polka dot tights for leg coverage. I added even more leg coverage by popping on my knee high Blondo boots. Over top of my dress for some colour, I've put on my two-tone magenta and purple tipped Halogen sweater blazer. I've also added a purple belt to accent my waistline. Jewelry is my silver watch and wedding band and my handbag is my slouchy Christopher Kon.

This isn't the most exciting outfit I've ever worn, but it's comfortable, warm and still put together. What do you think? Does it all work together? As always, all comments/suggestions welcome.

WIW: Slouchy & Sparkly

It is getting tough to get dressed these days - my mind says it's Spring with the beautiful sunshine and longer days. But the cold weather and new snow we received yesterday tell me otherwise. However, it's the perfect kind of weather to bring out the new slouchy trousers I picked up yesterday - at the grocery store!

This is the debut of the new black slouchy Joe Fresh trousers. You can read about them here http://youlookfab.com/welookfa.....y-trousers. They have a very wrinkled look so they may not be to everyone's taste. I've paired them with my sparkly dark blue hi-lo sweater that DS gave me for Christmas. As a nod to Spring, I'm wearing my kitten heel pointy toe pumps (with nude hose knee highs) to show a little skin. I've also scrunched my sweater sleeves for the same reason. I'm using my yellow/cobalt snakeskin clutch for a bit of colour and for jewelry, am wearing a funky little necklace I picked up at Value Village for $3.

What do you think? Do you like the trousers? As always, all comments/suggestions welcome.

WIW: Grey Mesh & Bootcuts

Yay for Friday :)

Today I'm wearing my grey Gap mesh sleeve sweater, which strangely enough, feels different than the white one - the fabric is significantly softer and thinner. It will be interesting to see if it bags out the same way the white one did.

Anyway, I'm wearing it untucked, more like a traditional sweatshirt today and have paired it with my dark wash bootcut jeans. I've added a pop of color with my red SE boots and have added my white handbag. I just can't seem to get enough of this handbag - love it. For jewelry, I've popped on my chrome & white bracelet watch.

This outfit is simple, comfortable and I think still put together looking for a casual Friday. What do you think? and should I have gone with a semi-tuck? As always, all comments/suggestions welcome.

WIW: Color anyone?

Well if you can't experience Spring, then you can WEAR it! On Ingunn's recent thread about what our challenge or inspiration was this week, I commented that I wanted to challenge myself to wear more color and to wear items that are more traditionally figure flattering (as opposed to more slouchy and voluminous which I have been enjoying lately). Today's outfit I think (hope!) covers both.

I started out with my yellow Academy tipped Gap blazer - my goodness, I love this cheery colour! I popped it over a black with white and grey polka dot draped front tank and then added my cobalt blue jeans. These are not actually the cobalt jeans I recently showed you as a spring purchase. The ones I originally purchased were Ralph Lauren but when I wore them out on the weekend for some errands, I was mortified at how much they bagged out from the knees right up to the waist - they turned into a saggy, sloppy mess. Hated them. Plus, to be honest, I think I purchased them one size too large. I really need to get my head around my changing body shape. Thank goodness they were on discount. I popped into The Bay on Monday and found these lovely Jeanne Bekker jeans. I had her white jeans last year and loved them both for comfort and for the non-bag factor. These are a a cross between a skinny and a straight leg and are petite so didn't need shortening. They are extremely comfortable and have a small percentage of polyester in them which is what I think helps them keep their shape.

For footwear I've added my python booties and then my white handbag and white watch for accessories.

So what do you think? Does it all work together? Proportions and fit of everything ok? As always, all comments/suggestions welcome.

WIW: Simple Outfit for a Not So Simple Day

First, let's start with the weather - we are expecting more snow flurries, freezing rain and north winds. In other words, a cold and miserable day. Then at work, I will be doing a fair bit of unpacking of medical devices so need to be comfortable and able to move. Then later this afternoon, I will be taking DS to his Respirology appointment and will be parking nowhere near the clinic so will need to be able to walk some distance. This type of day demands comfort, all the way.

I started with a pair of simple black trousers that are somewhere between a straight leg and a wide leg. I've added my asymmetrical ruched tank and then topped that with my merino wool animal print and black cardigan. For footwear, I have on my most comfortable Clarks shooties (which are insulated for outdoor warmth) and added my vintage Ralph Lauren cognac leather handbag. A gold watch for jewelry and away I go.

Not exciting, but perfectly suited for the day. What do you think? As always, all comments/suggestions welcome.
