WIW: Black, white & green

Another cold day here in The 'Peg so wanted to wrap myself up in my green cashmere sweater. I've paired the sweater with my tweed front slouchy trousers. I've added for a belt a newly thrifted black/white houndstooth slim leather belt and then decided to further play up the black and white by adding my Doc Sara oxfords (MaryK is so right - you just smile when you put these babies on!) and my black/white leather handbag.

I'm comfortable, cozy and feel put together - how does it look to your eyes? As always, all comments/suggestions welcome.

WIW: Denim & Lace for a Snowy Day

My goodness - I am SICK TO DEATH of winter and snow! It's a miserable day here and I'm finding it increasingly difficult to figure out what to wear. I need to be warm and covered, but I want to start to introduce spring items.

Today I decided to pair my dark brown lace midi skirt with a brown v-neck tank with brown tights and brown booties - this gives me my column of colour. But as a nod to spring, I've topped this ensemble with a cropped denim jacket. I've added my red/leopard clutch for some colour and my gold watch and a vintage brooch for jewelry.

It's not a spectacular outfit but I think it works - what do you think? As always, all comments/suggestions welcome.

Can anyone please send Spring my way???

WIW: Casual Stripes

TGIF!

Casual Friday today started with this light weight "almost mesh" striped Gap sweater in red, navy and white. I've paired the sweater with my ancient but still loved straight leg dark wash jeans. And because red is one of my favourite colours, I decided to wear my red boots to play with the red stripe in the sweater. My handbag is my slouchy black leather lamb bag and jewelry is limited to my silver wedding band and my black/white/silver men's watch.

This outfit is about as simple as it gets - but I'm comfortable, still put together and ready for the day.

What do you think? Does it all work together? Proportions ok? As always, all comments/suggestions welcome.

WIW: Leather & Oxfords

Ugggghhhh...winter just refuses to leave so once again, my outfit is a little dark and heavy for spring but perfectly appropriate for our actual weather.

I started with my black slouchy trousers and paired them with an animal print silk-blend, knot-front tee. On top of that I added my black leather blazer (have I mentioned how much I LOVE this jacket?). I decided to pull out the lighter tones in the tee by wearing my tri-tone patent leather oxfords and then because I was too lazy to change my handbag, have a pop of red.

Does it all work together? As always, all comments/suggestions welcome.

WIW: Leopard & Red for False Spring

I thought Spring was in the air? Apparently not here today as it is -20. So a cozy cardigan was definitely on the wardrobe menu this morning.

I've paired my animal print merino wool cardigan with my red cowl neck tee- LOVE animal print and red together. The print on the cardigan has brown in it so decided to pair it up with my espresso brown trousers. I added a simple wide brown leather belt with brass buckle and my ancient brown leather heeled booties for footwear. Added my quilted red handbag for another splash of red, along with a swipe of red lipstick. My jewelry is a Fossil watch that is stainless steel and ebony wood - a Christmas gift from hubby 6 or 7 years ago.

It's a fairly dark colour palette for spring but hey - it doesn't feel like spring today anyway - lol!

What do you think? does it all work together? As always, all comments/suggestions for improvement welcome.

WIW: Pink for Spring

I decided today was the day to bring out my pink blazer from its winter hiatus. This outfit did not photograph particularly well and does look better IRL. And excuse the blouse pulling a bit in the second pic - it's just because my hand on my hip was pulling it. It's not gaping otherwise.

I paired my pink blazer with my black/white houndstooth drapey blouse and my tweed front slouchy trousers. For footwear, I've popped on my Doc Marcie boots (shout out to Rae!) and my handbag is my simple black/white leather one.

What do you think? Does this work? As always, all comments/suggestions welcome.

WIW: Cobalt & Black for spring

There's definitely a hint of spring in the air - the sun is warmer on my face, the birds are getting louder, and the days are getting longer. Love it!

So to celebrate this change in weather, I put away my black fishnets and today wore nude fishnets to mimic bare legs. I've added my black and cobalt colour-blocked skirt, my black asymmetrical ruched tank and topped it with my cobalt asymmetrical zipped jacket. For footwear, I popped on my trusty Clarks criss-cross Mary-Jane pumps. My handbag is my yellow/cobalt clutch.

I'm feeling pretty good in this outfit and hope it looks good too. As always, all comments/suggestions welcome.

WIW: Giving my BF another chance

Haven't worn my Gap sexy BF's lately since I've been preferring my other denim styles, but thought today would be a good day to try them again 'cause in case you didn't know already, I'm not one to give up easily!

I'm wearing the BF's full length with heeled booties to try and elongate my leg line, as I do find the BF's can be a bit "stumpifying" if I'm not careful. I've added my green cashmere sweater which I'm totally in love with - it's like a cashmere sweatshirt. I've done a small semi tuck so that some of my animal print belt can show. I'm using my oversized snakeskin clutch for a bit more texture and pattern. A simple outfit for a casual Friday.

What do you think? Does my BF deserve to stay? Does this outfit work in terms of proportion? As always, all comments/suggestions welcome.

WIW: Volume on Volume on a Petite Apple

Everything in me says I shouldn't be wearing this when I'm only 5'1" - wide leg trousers and a voluminous drop shoulder horizontal striped sweater. And yet I love the combination and think it works. Previously I've paired this sweater with slouchy and slimmer bottoms but I like the pairing with the trousers because it's all in the same colour and the Glen plaid trousers have a fine navy stripe in them which matches the navy stripe in my sweater.

I've added my navy vintage leather handbag for some structure to this drapey outfit (and for another bit of navy!) and my trusty black Clarks pumps for footwear.

So what do you think? Can a petite apple pull off this much volume or should I stick with pairing the sweater with sleeker bottoms and pencil skirts? As always, all suggestions/comments welcome.

WIW: To get out of bed

Sorry I've been MIA for the past few days - been sick as a dog with a sinus infection that came with quite the nasty fever. On antibiotics now and returning to work after being home in bed for the last two days.

We got an other big dump of snow (will it ever end?) so today's outfit actually revolved around footwear. I wanted to wear my Blondo boots because they are warm, have great grip and are comfortable to wear all day inside. With the boots, I've added my trusty black sheath dress and over top of that, an old but much loved silk-blend multi-coloured cardigan. I popped on a skinny belt over top so I wouldn't lose my waist and added my black/white leather handbag.

This is a simple outfit but it's comfortable and hopefully not too boring. Any and all suggestions/comments welcome.
