Fur vest - what's your opinion?

I had originally no intention of jumping on the fur vest bandwagon that started last year....but never say never...I have looked at this fur vest on the Gap website numerous times and honestly, it's the only one I've seen that appeals to me. It's on huge discount right now and I'm getting an itchy trigger finger. So I have two questions for you:

1) what do you think of this vest
2) could this work with my style

WIW: Friday Flares & My Animals

Yay for casual Friday!

I thrifted these slightly distressed flared jeans and I absolutely adore them. It doesn't hurt that hubby thinks they look "hot"!

I paired the jeans with a graphic tee in taupe, cream and hits of pink. On top of that I layered a cream cardigan that has horizontal stripes of regular sweater fabric and sheer sweater fabric. I like the effect and how what you're wearing underneath peeks through. Because I want to wear these flares with my highest but most comfortable heels, I had them hemmed for my various pairs of Docs so am wearing my animal print Doc Danielle's. I've added my snakeskin handbag for more pattern and cream/taupe tones and my gold oversized watch for jewelry.

Gain is my third animal print and his reddish/orange tones work perfectly with the shoes and handbag, don't you think?

I'm happy and comfy in this ensemble - what do you think? does it work? As always, all comments/suggestions welcome.

Jeans: Vigoss Flares (thrifted)

WIW: Singing the Blues

Today I'm wearing various shades of blue with white and a touch of black. I started with these dark navy/ink blue trousers. Then I added my white with blue animal print blowsy top and finished it off with my blue vintage blazer. For footwear I'm wearing my Clarks black sandals (hopefully can wear shoes next week - the toe is healing well) and my black with white trim leather handbag. Jewelry is my oversized gold watch.

You'll notice I have another colour coordinated kitty with Dusty Bottom!

Does this colour combination work? Proportions ok? As always, all comments/suggestions welcome.

Blazer: vintage
Top: Reitmans (thrifted)
Trousers: NJP Petites
Sandals: Clarks
Handbag: Danier Leather (thrifted)

WIW: Kate & Maggy go on a date

Have I mentioned I love fall???

Today is the debut of the Maggy London black/white graphic print wrap dress (waving to dress triplets Rita and Natalie!). I love everything about this dress - the weight, the drape, the pattern, the fit - I want every single Maggy London petite dress if they all fit and feel like this!

I've paired Maggy with my black and red Kate Spade handbag. I felt it was time the two met. For footwear, I'm wearing my Fly London chunky sandals (half my toenail came off last night so no closed shoes again), and for jewelry, I'm wearing my pearl and silver wrap bracelet and a vintage silver and garnet ring.

What do you think? Everything work together? As always, all comments/suggestions welcome.

Dress: Maggy London
Sandals: Fly London
Handbag: Kate Spade (thrifted)
Bracelet: thrifted
Ring: vintage

P.S. Just noticed that I'm wearing two items named London today!

WIW: Kinda Tonal (or is that "toenail"?

Remember how I said I had put all my summer sandals away? Well back in May I had hurt my big toe on my left foot and wondered if I was going to lose the toenail. Last night it started to come off and putting on a shoe was out of the question this morning. Out of the closet came my trusty and comfortable Clarks wedge sandals.

I've paired the sandals with my espresso brown Esprit trousers (my favourite trousers EVER) and a Gap hi-low tee I bought last year, which has brown, beige, cream and indigo blue in it. I added my vintage men's tribal belt to peek out from my semi-tuck and my Fossil handbag for more browns. Jewelry is my vintage gold bracelet. You'll notice that Gain fits right into the colour scheme for today!

What do you think? Proportions and colours all work together? As always, all comments/suggestions welcome.

WIW: Black, White & Green

Thought I'd wear some summer things just a few more times before it's too cold to do so. I started out with my black & white cowl neck Ikat print dress, popped my white denim jacket over top and then decided to play up the black in the dress and the white jacket by adding my Doc Sara black/white shoes. Then I added my black/white handbag and my chrome watch with white face for accessories. I though the Doc Sara's would be more fall-like than sandals.

What do you think? Does this all work together? As always, all comments/suggestions welcome.

Jacket: BUM Equipment (thrifted)
Dress: Cleo Petite
Shoes: Doc Martens Sara oxfords
Handbag: Danier Leather (thrifted)

Shoe Stretch Success

As you may recall, I was having an issue with my beloved cobalt blue Kate Spade pumps (http://youlookfab.com/welookfa.....oe-problem). I picked up a product called Stretch Genie and it worked like a charm. Comes with the leather softening spray liquid and these little stretching devices that can be widened and narrowed to suit your shoes.

Yay for success!

Why I love YLF

I have the whole day to myself today as everyone else in the household has plans. How decadent! After enjoying a leisurely coffee and a piece of cheesecake for breakfast (cake can be breakfast can't it?) I decided to tackle my closet.

It has turned into fall here (my favourite time of year by far) so took all my summery clothes out of the closet, off the shelves and out of my dresser to store in the downstairs cedar closet that's reserved for out of season clothing. Really summery shoes/sandals have also been put away.

Then I brought up all the fall/winter clothing and footwear to put into my bedroom closet. I am absolutely THRILLED with my fall wardrobe. I not only have my new NAS finds to look forward to wearing, but also many pieces from last year that I enjoy. While hanging up my things I discovered new combinations that can be made with the new and old items together. I also was pleased as punch to discover that my pants from last year fit again now that my new meds seem to be working.

I have more clothes than I thought and truly do not need to add anything to my fall wardrobe. Based on that I'm adopting a "one-in-one-out" rule for the remainder of fall/winter. I have no more room physically in my closet so for something new to come in, I must purge something else.

I did put together a huge pile of stuff to go off to the second hand shop as I decided to be much more discerning about what got put back into the closet. Some of the items I hadn't had that long but no longer cared for or worked with my current wardrobe/style any longer. This felt really good.

I love YLF because all of you and Angie in particular helped me get to this point. Helped me define my Retro Classic style, figure out what flatters my body, and assisted me in putting together a cohesive and fun wardrobe. I truly THANK YOU ALL for this!

WIW: Final Try of BF (ETA update at bottom)

I'm heading off to the grocery store on a cold and windy fall day. I'm trying my darker wash, larger size BFs in one last attempt to see if I like this look. This follows my whiny post yesterday about my complicated relationship with my BF http://youlookfab.com/welookfa.....g-me-think.

I had the thought thanks to Claire that maybe part of my angst over this look was the incredibly leg shortening aspect on an already short me. So today I'm wearing the jeans only cuffed once so that they are pretty much full length but still have the cuffed look. I've paired them with the red Sam Edelman booties I got yesterday (Angie - I LOVE these booties!) and a fitted Gap striped long sleeve tee. I've kept the belt dark as I also think comments in previous posts about a light coloured belt not working were valid.

The crotch point on the jeans are a good three inches below my anatomical crotch and are sitting approximately 6 inches lower than my waist (I have a very high waist). I actually kind of like the BF jeans as full length as opposed to cuffed.

What do you think? Please be honest. Does this work?
