This might be my turtleneck

From Cleo, available in petites, variety of colours and although not a true "turtleneck", probably better fitting and looking for a short necked gal like myself. Will definitely be giving this a try.

WIW: Houndstooth & Red Booties

I thrifted this cropped houndstooth jacket last night and couldn't wait to bust it out! It's a great cropped length, is double breasted and can either be buttoned right up or just part way so you have a nice large collar (the way I'm wearing it here) or of course undone for a column of colour effect. It's lined, has 3/4 length sleeves and fits me perfectly. I've popped it on top of my black ponte knit sheath dress and then added my new red booties and my quilted red leather handbag for colour. A simple silver bangle is my jewelry.

What do you think? Does this work? As always, all comments/suggestions welcome.

Dress: Cleo Petite
Booties: Sam Edelman

Uh oh...look what's on it's way

I love the colour and print of the VC blouse and based on the houndstooth one I got through NAS, know that it will fit well once I have Wonder Woman shorten the sleeves. I can see it with black pencil skirt, black slim trousers (here's hoping the Gap ones fit when they arrive), jeans, etc.

And I can't believe after all my angst over the Gap Sexy BF jeans, I've ordered yet another pair (stop laughing at me Una!). The slimmer legs of the Catherines interest me because I do find the Gap legs borderline too big. I also know other YLFers have the Catherines and if I remember correctly, Angie had recommended them at one point. At the discounted price they are worth trying and if they don't work out, I can always sell them on consignment.

Oooohhhh...just thought of an outfit. The gold VC blouse WITH the Catherine BF jeans topped WITH the Gap furry vest and then the Doc Marcies on my feet...that could be over the top for me and might put my hubby into some sort of apoplexy - lol! Of course, I'm assuming that everything will fit and we all know what happens when you assume...

Blondo Boot Confusion

Kelly recently posted a K/R thread regarding the Blondo boots that some of us purchased through NAS (http://youlookfab.com/welookfa.....asp-i-know). The consensus was that the boots were tall for Kelly's legs.

I also purchased these boots and am only 5'1". When I look at the pics of my legs in the boots, they seem to be as tall on me as they are on Kelly. But the boots were deemed "keepers" for me.

Please educate me with your eyes and tell me what difference you see - am I missing something? Or are they shorter on me? These are the pics I posted in my original thread. I confess I did not post it as a K/R as I was in love with the boots, they were extremely comfortable and I knew I was keeping them.

Now I'm worried that they are too tall on me too!

WIW: White after Labour Day

What have you done to me Angie? White jeans AFTER Labour Day??? I was quietly chuckling to myself when putting these on this morning 'cause I felt like such a rebel!

I've paired my white jeans with my mauve J Jill silk blouse and my black/cream Doc Sara oxfords. For jewelry, I'm wearing a silver stretch bracelet with abalone shells and on the opposite hand, a silver and rose gold ring (present from hubby). For my handbag today I'm wearing my charcoal snakeskin clutch.

I digging the simplicity of this outfit - what do you think? Does it work? As always, all comments/suggestions welcome.

WIW: Cobalt Blue & Black with a hint of yellow

I'm really into the colour combo of black and blue these days - all shades of blue. So today I'm breaking out my new short sleeved silk-blend cobalt and black blouse. It also has side panels in a blush tone which I really like and think gives it even more interest. I've paired the blouse with a simple pair of wider legged black trousers and then for warmth outside (and in the office if it's too chilly) I've topped it with my black/charcoal herringbone blazer. I have a fair bit of running around to do at work today so am wearing my incredibly comfortable Clarks shooties. For jewelry I've added a dark blue bracelet and am using my cobalt/black/yellow clutch for more pattern mixing and another pop of colour.

What do you think? does it all work together? colours and proportions good? As always, all comments/suggestions welcome.

WIW: Taupe and Red

Today is the first wearing of the portobello skirt that Suz and I both have (*waving to Suz*). I suspect this is going to become a very versatile piece for both of us.

I've paired the skirt with an animal print v-neck short sleeved top and my tomato red Gap blazer (back from Wonder Woman getting the sleeves shortened). I love the colour combination of taupe and red. I'm also debuting the Jeffrey Campbell tri-colour patent leather oxfords - the taupe in the shoes works with the taupe skirt and the black in the shoes pulls out the black in the top. The cream in the shoes works with the cream tones in the snakeskin handbag, which of course provides some pattern mixing.

What do you think? Colours and proportions work? As always, all comments/suggestions welcome.

WIW: Sunday with my BF

I don't know what has happened but I've had a complete mind shift when it comes to the boyfriend jeans for me. Maybe it was a matter of getting used to the new silhouette - I don't know. But we're heading out for brunch at a local restaurant (very casual place) so remembering Suz's comment on Friday that this graphic tee would go great with my BF jeans, I popped on the tee and my larger pair of the Gap BF jeans. I'm wearing my Boutique 9 peep toe booties which give me a bit of heel and two new red items I picked up at Danier Leather this week during their outlet sale. I've been wanting a wider red belt so found this one and also found a red clutch replacement for the one that got crushed at Kristin's wedding. Love the small size and simple design of this one.

I'm really happy with this outfit and feel good in it - who knew? What do you think? As always, all comments/suggestions welcome.

Bonus pic of my fur babies watching the sparrows just outside my bedroom window. Too cute!

WIW: BF and I and an interesting observation

It's a super casual day today around our household and I'm just running out to pick up a few things quickly. i was on my feet almost all day yesterday in heels so flats were absolutely essential for my pouting piggies today.

I paired my metallic flats with the smaller of my two BF jeans, snakeskin belt and a plain moss green v-neck tee. I popped on my favourite amber necklace and that's it. What I found interesting is that the BF jeans were the first ones I reached for. I'm starting to feel more comfortable in them even though I realize figure flattery is not the point of them. Maybe you CAN teach an old dog new tricks???

Anyway, what do you think? As always, all comments/suggestions welcome.
