WIW: Silk & White

It's another perfectly miserable day here today - rain, rain and more rain and fairly cool...anyway, because it's cool I decided it was a good day to wear my first of the J Jill silk button down shirts, this one in Loganberry. I've paired it with my white jeans (I want to wear these at least once a week!), my two tone Aerosole oxford sandals, white watch for accessories and my camel leather handbag. I'm not sure the camel handbag is a good mix with this shirt but it goes with the sandals and to be honest, I was just too lazy to switch it for something else!

So how does this look? Proportions ok? As always, all comments/suggestions welcome.

Casual MOTG & Happy Feet

I'm heading out to pick up my son's video game he ordered and a few Body Shop items and wanted to take the opportunity to show you my floral shoes and incorporate them into a casual MOTG outfit.

I decided I wanted a pair of floral flats for summer casual looks and tried on a few that were either too clunky, too uncomfortable or just too ugly. I had kind of hoped for just a slip on pair but when I tried these ones on, my feet were sooooooo happy that they were the winners! They are Blowfish and are incredibly comfortable. I like the size and colours of the floral pattern. I'll wear them with my skinny jeans, clams, shorts and maybe even my denim skirt. I'll really happy with them.

Then I decided to try two different combinations with the shoes and my dark denim Bermudas - one with a dark blue Converse light cotton button front shirt and one with my Gap lightweight yellow striped sweater. I ended up wearing the sweater combination out and felt comfortable and colourful.

As always, would love your feedback.

WIW: Orange & Argyle

It's a completely miserable day here today so what better to do than wear some bright colour with a bit of pattern mixing! I started today's outfit with my orange tee and my orange/white/grey 3/4 sleeve argyle sweater. There's my colour. Then I paired that with my Gap medium wash L&L's, tucked, and added my snakeskin belt. There's my pattern mix (snakeskin and argyle). I've popped on my Clarks brown sandals for comfort and then added my camel leather handbag to pick up the camel colour in the belt and added a watch.

How does this outfit work? Proportions and colours ok? As always, all comments/suggestions welcome.

WIW: Angie's Bermuda Formula for a casual day

I have the day off work today (whoo too!) and it's a hot, sunny summer day. I have some running around to do so want to be comfortable. I started with my dark denim cuffed Bermuda shorts, then added on top an orange/coral linen oversized type shirt. I love linen in the heat and don't even mind the wrinkles. On my feet I have my trusty Sketcher nude sandals (I've had these at least 3 years now), have added my gold and turquoise cuff for a bit of colourful bling and am using my dark brown raffia tote. I feel summery, comfortable and pulled together - Angie, I love this formula!

So what do you think? As always, all comments/suggestions welcome.

K/R: Ok...but let me explain....

I had to nip to the grocery store to pick up milk and saw these in the window of the Goodwill by the store. I love this type of pattern so had to pop in and have a look. Lo and behold they are capri pants in my size. I try them on, I fall in love, I bring them home...

Before I try to explain this insanity, let me start by mentioning that I am trying to build a bit more of my casual wardrobe as probably 80% of what I own is more work related (with some pieces that can play with both casual and career capsules). And it's HOT here (sorry if it sounds like I'm bragging my poor YLF Seattle friends!).

I know these are a hideous length on me as is so I've tried as best I can to tuck and cuff one leg to a more appropriate length. I think these could be really cute and versatile shortened as Bermuda shorts and could maybe work as part of Angie's recent Bermuda shorts MOTG formula. Try to picture both legs hemmed to just my knee and see what you think...have I lost my mind or will these work? Keep or return?

WIW: Lace, Stripes and Patent Leather

I've been wearing my new Kate Spade cobalt pumps around the house a bit since I got them last week just to make sure they're comfortable before I wear them for a whole day at work. Today they're coming out to play!

I've paired the shoes with my sleeveless blue crochet dress (the one Wonder Woman had remade for me) and my Banana Republic blue/white striped knit jacket. My office is very strange in the summer - ice cold in the morning and very warm in the afternoon so layering is essential. To break up the blue I've added my Kelly green handbag. No jewelry today - I just wanted the pieces to stand on their own.

Does this outfit work? Proportions ok? As always, all comments/suggestions welcome.

WIW: A Dress for a Hot Day

It's going to be quite hot here today so an easy, breezy dress was the ticket. I wear this dress year round - with tights, boots and blazer for fall/winter and on its own for warmer months. It's a multi coloured (black/white/teal/purple/blue) abstract print, wrap dress with a scalloped hem in front. It's one of the few wrap dresses that provides good coverage for me and actually "stays put". Instead of the skinny black belt it came with, today I decided to use a wider purple leather belt and am wearing my chrome with white face watch and my black/white handbag to pick up the white in the dress. I'm wearing simple black sandals and am ready for the day.

Dresses are definitely my favourite clothing item and are always my FFBO. As always, all comments/suggestions welcome.

WIW: An Outfit for Inge

A few weeks ago I had asked the forum members for some suggestions on what to wear with my white jeans and got wonderful and helpful suggestions. One that really stood out for me was Inge's suggestion of pairing yellow stripes with white and an accessory in animal print. She had sent a link to a lovely little Gap light weight sweater and I ended up buying it. So today's outfit is Inge's suggestion and I love it - thank you so much Inge! I've paired my Gap sweater with my white jeans, Aerosole oxford sandals, thrifted animal print handbag and my newly thrifted white watch.

As always, all suggestions/comments welcome. Inge definitely knows her stuff 'cause I feel fab in this outfit!

WIW: Polka Dots & Denim

Why do people take Casual Fridays and turn them into "Sloppy" Fridays? I enjoy our Friday Denim Days but still want to look neat and tidy so today decided to pair what could be considered a dressy element with my lighter wash jeans. I like the mix. I'm wearing my navy and cream polka dot voluminous blouse with my lighter wash Gap Long & Leans. For footwear, I'm wearing my cream and caramel oxford sandals and for accessories, my orange leather handbag and my Michael Kors gold mesh cuff. This outfit is simple and comfortable, but not sloppy.

What do you think? Do the proportions work with the voluminous top and jeans? As always, all comments/suggestions welcome.
