WIW: Knit Dress & Denim Jacket Formula

This is my favourite outfit formula of all time. It's easy, it's comfortable, it's cozy and it works for both my office and for casual wear.

I started the outfit with my black ponte knit sheath dress. I then added a scarf that has black/grey/burgundy/gold in it for a bit of colour and a bit more of that "coziness factor". On top of that I added my cropped mid wash denim jacket. On my lower half I'm wearing dark grey tights and my grey Frye double-shaft boots. Jewelry is my grey & silver bangle and my handbag is my faux croc patent black one.

What do you think? Does it all work together? As always, all comments/suggestions welcome.

WIW: A little houndstooth and a little python

Got my SE python booties yesterday and couldn't wait to wear them. I'm not sure this is the best pairing but I think it works and I'll have more time to play with them later - I just couldn't wait, you know?

Today's outfit, along with the gorgeous booties, includes my slim cigarette-type trousers and black/white houndstooth blouse. Accessories are simple with my red quilted handbag, and a couple of rings.

What do you think? Does it all work? As always, all comments/suggestions welcome.

WIW: Green Tweed for a freezing day

It is a bitterly cold day here today. Just the right kind of day to wear a cropped tweed jacket. I haven't worn this jacket for quite a while and every once in a while, I put it into a donate pile and then I end up putting it back in the closet. Maybe it's one of those pieces you don't wear often but you enjoy it when you do wear it.

I've paired it with a simple dark brown tank and my dark brown espresso trousers. I'm wearing my animal print belt for a punch of pattern, my dark brown high heeled booties to continue my column of colour, and my Fossil handbag.

When I step out the door, I'll be bundled in my red puffer coat, Burberry-esque scarf and dark brown insulated gloves.

What do you think? Does it all work together? Keep or donate the jacket? As always, all comments/suggestions welcome.

WIW: Cognac, bootcuts, bright blue & a Sona clutch

I'm enjoying experimenting with my casual Friday ensembles - I hope I'm getting the hang of it!

Today's outfit is all about this beautiful clutch Sona sent me. I love the size, the pattern, the colours and the gathers on the flap.

I've paired the clutch with my cognac faux leather jacket (my office is quite chilly in the winter months so I can wear this instead of a blazer) overtop my bright blue cowl neck tank. The tank is tucked into a pair of older Anne Klein boot cuts and I'm wearing both my cognac booties and my tribal men's vintage belt for a bit more of the brown/cognac. Jewelry is my silver wedding band and my ebony/steel Fossil watch that DH gave me 4-5 Christmases ago.

What do you think? Does it all work together? As always, all comments/suggestions welcome.

Jacket: Revolution

Sona - you're a SWEETHEART!

Look what I had waiting for me when I got home from work today?

Yep - beautiful clutches thanks to sweet and kind Sona! She decided these weren't working with her style and thought I might enjoy them. Now...which pretty bag to use first???

Thank you so much Sona - very, very thoughtful of you :)

WIW: Almost All Black

I loved when Angie posted about dressing in almost all black but making it interesting by adding texture and a small pop of colour somewhere. That was the inspiration for today's outfit.

I bought these trousers earlier in the week and couldn't wait to wear them. They are a slightly slouchy menswear inspired pair that are tweed in the front and back with a wide black stripe on each side - sort of a take on tuxedo pants. I apologize for not getting a picture of the side view so you could see this detail - forgot and then ran out of time (my bad!).

I've paired the trousers with a dressy tank that is silk in the back and the front underlayer and then has a top layer in the front of silver, charcoal and black velvet strips. On top of that is my black leather blazer.

My pop of colour is my cobalt booties and my yellow/cobalt clutch.

What do you think? Does it all work together? Does the tweed, velvet and leather textures break up the black? As always, all comments/suggestions welcome.

ANGIE: I think I might be starting to like trousers!

WIW: Print Skirt & Red Booties for Suz

I bought this skirt last week and Suz promptly said she'd love to see it with my red booties....so that was the start of my outfit today.

I paired this print crepe midi skirt with the draped and knotted jersey knit long sleeved boat neck top that I bought at the same time. This top feels like pajamas on, it is soooooo comfy. It's also got this fab seam from the top of the left shoulder diagonally down to the right hip that makes the top drape so beautifully.

Also with the red booties, I've added my red leather snakeskin day clutch and jewelry is my gold watch and a chunky gold ring.

What do you think? Colours and proportions work well together? As always, all comments/suggestions welcome.

Suz - thank you for the suggestion! My happiness factor in this outfit is WAYYYY up there!

WIW: Slouchy & Houndstooth

Well back to work after my day off yesterday...so I started with my black slouchy L&T trousers, paired with a red cowl neck tank and topped with my cropped houndstooth jacket. A simple black leather belt is keeping up my trousers and my accessories are my gold wedding band and a vintage black & gold bracelet. For my handbag today I'm using my black and red Kate Spade and shoes are my trusty Clark heels.

Picture everything with my red puffer and boots on when I head out the door - it's nasty out there!

What do you think? Does a cropped jacket work with these trousers? As always, all comments/suggestions welcome.

Jacket: Simply Manakin Petite (thrifted)
Tank: Jessica (Sears)
Trousers: Lord & Taylor
Shoes: Clarks
Handbag: Kate Spade (thrifted)

WIW: Oversized sweater for day off work

I have the day off today to get some work done on my car and then hopefully finish up my Christmas shopping.

I'm wearing a newly purchased Lord & Taylor merino wool blend oversized striped sweater. I bought this sweater yesterday when out with MIL. This is now my third Lord & Taylor item (slouchy black trousers, animal print cardigan being the other two). I'm in love with their fabrications - their cashmere and their wool are so comfortable, non itchy and soft. I also like their colours, shapes and slight nod to retro and preppy while still being current and modern. Because my wardrobe consists primarily of work items, I'm wanting a few tops that can be worn for casual wear but also worn to work - I think this sweater could work over a pencil skirt for a de-bomshelling look.

I've paired the sweater with my darker wash Suko boot cuts and my grey leather Frye wedge boots. Because the sweater has both green and cream stripes in it, I'm wearing my snakeskin handbag which has green and cream in it as well. Jewelry consists of my grey/silver bangle and silver Haida wedding band.

Of course when I head out the door, I'll be adding my citron short puffer.

What do you think? How are the proportions? Can a shortie like me wear the oversized sweater trend? As always, all comments/suggestions welcome.

Boots: Frye
