WIW: Cognac & Black

I wanted to try a simple pairing of cognac and black after seeing that outfit combination on Pinterest.

I started with my black ponte knit sheath dress and then added my cognac faux leather jacket. I'm wearing some fun animal print tights and then popped on my cognac riding boots. For accessories, I'm wearing my vintage men's tribal belt (to define my waist), using my Fossil re-issue vintage handbag and vintage gold bracelet. For heading out the door, I've topped it all with my plaid cape and red leather gloves.

What do you think? Does this work? As always, all comments/suggestions welcome.

WIW: Houndstooth, slouchy & oxfords

Arrrrghhhh....my computer was NOT working this morning at home (some software glitch) so my photos I took at home wouldn't load. But sweet Kristin offered to quickly snap a couple of pics at work so I could still post my WIW (thank you Kristin!).

My outfit started with my new Gap ivory/navy houndstooth sweater. It's beautifully soft, non itchy and just a wee bit oversized. This is my first item from Gap's petite line which is finally available in Canada and I couldn't be more pleased - sleeves that are the right length! I paired the sweater with my black slouchy trousers, red belt for a hit of colour and my black/white Sara oxfords. My handbag for today is my red quilted one for another infusion of red. Over top everything when I head out the door is my black cape coat.

What do you think? Does this all work together? Proportions ok? As always, all comments/suggestions welcome.

Sweater: Gap
Trousers: Lord & Taylor (altered)
Belt: Danier Leather
Shoes: Doc Martens
Handbag: Nine West (thrifted)
Coat: Club Monaco (thrifted)

WIW: Messy tuck, vest & yellow snakeskin

I love that our office implemented Denim Days on Friday about a a year and a half ago. It gives me an opportunity to wear my jeans more than just on weekends and to play with work appropriate ways of wearing them.

Today started out with my Wit & Wisdom skinnies worn with a messy tuck into my blue suede booties. For a blouse, I chose my mauve silk front button with scrunched sleeves and buttoned all the way up, and on top of that, I've added a black vest. For accessories, just my wedding ring and my yellow/cobalt snakeskin daytime clutch.

I'm really happy with how this outfit turned out and would love to hear your thoughts on it. I guess my biggest question is does the vest work? How are the proportions? As always, all comments/suggestions welcome.

Vest: Nygard (thrifted)
Blouse: J Jill
Jeans: Wit & Wisdom
Booties: Aerosole
Clutch: Trouve
